Soul Care: Week of Generosity

Followers of Jesus are generous people. Christians sacrificially give of our spiritual gifts, time, resources, and money in a manner consistent with the Gospel and for its spread.

We have been given the gift of grace and salvation in Jesus. One of the ways we respond is by cheerfully, regularly, and generously giving of our resources. These are then used by God for the relief of the poor, for building his church, and for the advance of the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

“I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine. For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” – 2 Corinthians 8:8–9 (ESV)

“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace… whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” – 1 Peter 4:10–11 (ESV)
